BOLIX U is a universal adhesive mortar used in ETICS thermal insulation systems – both for fixing EPS boards, including graphite EPS and XPS, and for creating the reinforced base coat with mesh. It is a classic, proven system material that covers two work stages with one product.

From the contractor’s perspective, the mortar offers high adhesion to mineral substrates and polystyrene, spreads easily and allows for a stable reinforced layer without the mesh “falling away”.

Application:

bonding EPS, graphite EPS and XPS boards,
creating the reinforced base coat, including embedding the mesh,
skim coating and levelling substrates up to approx. 5 mm,
BOLIX thermal insulation systems, including energy-efficient and passive construction.

Application – key stages:

1. Bonding EPS boards:

strip-and-dot method, standard in ETICS,
min. 40% effective bonding surface,
adhesive layer thickness: up to approx. 10 mm.

2. Reinforced base coat:

first layer: approx. 3–4 mm,
embedding the glass fibre mesh,
second levelling layer,
total thickness: 3–5 mm, up to 6 mm depending on the solution.

Key application notes:

do not apply the layer too thinly, as this may cause mesh show-through and reduce strength,
maintain mesh overlaps of at least 10 cm,
when using graphite EPS, control heating of the boards due to possible deformation,
carry out work continuously on one surface.

In practice, this is a classic “universal adhesive” for ETICS – for standard systems based on EPS, it provides one material for both bonding and mesh embedding. A proven, straightforward solution.
