BOLIX HD 158/S is a reinforcing mesh designed for creating the reinforced base coat in thermal insulation systems, as well as in repair and decorative renders. From the contractor’s perspective, it is a key component responsible for the system’s resistance to cracking and mechanical damage.

The product is made of glass fibre coated with an alkali-resistant dispersion, ensuring durability in a cement-based environment and long-term stability of parameters.

Key properties:

alkali resistance,
high mechanical strength,
flexibility combined with a stable weave,
dimensional stability within the reinforced base coat.

Application:

reinforced base coat in ETICS systems,
thin-layer and repair renders,
mineral substrates – as reinforcement for adhesive mortars,
waterproofing systems, e.g. BOLIX HYDRO.

Application method:

embed in a fresh layer of adhesive mortar approx. 3–4 mm thick,
ensure the mesh is fully covered and not visible after application,
maintain overlaps of min. 10 cm, vertically and horizontally,
additional reinforcement is recommended in corner and plinth zones.

Finished reinforced layer thickness: 3–5 mm. In areas exposed to higher loads, such as ground-floor zones, a double mesh layer may be used.

Technical parameters:

width: 1.1 m (±10%)
roll length: 50 m
surface weight: approx. 160 g/m²
mesh size: approx. 3.5 × 3.8 mm
tensile strength:
≥ 1900 N / 50 mm under laboratory conditions
≥ 1000 N / 50 mm after alkali exposure

Consumption:

approx. 1.1 m²/m², including overlaps

Practical application notes:

do not apply “dry” – always embed the mesh in fresh mortar,
avoid folds and tension – the mesh should be evenly laid and properly stretched,
overlaps of at least 10 cm are essential, as lack of continuity may lead to cracks,
in impact-prone areas, consider using a reinforced double-mesh arrangement.

This is a component that is not visible after completion, but it determines the durability of the entire system. In ETICS, this is not where savings should be made – a good mesh means fewer complaints.
